The first time I visited Tanzania, I was in my early twenties. I was working for an African affiliate advertising agency in Mauritius, and we flew there for the annual gathering of agencies from across the continent. That first experience of Africa stayed with me. I fell in love with the vibrant energy, the culture, the people. It felt so different from where I come from our small island in the Indian Ocean, shaped in many ways by European influence.

From that moment, I hoped I would return to the continent. And a few years later, I did. I joined an energy company operating in Tanzania and Kenya, and I was genuinely happy. I was now able to experience Africa more closely, through the people, the projects, the journeys, and the everyday moments shared with colleagues from around the continent.

Over time, I travelled there for project shoots. There was always a full crew on site to capture the work, but I still brought my own camera. I needed to hold on to these feelings in my own way. With my own eyes. This collection is part of that, my personal way of remembering Tanzania, beyond the job, beyond the brief, as a place that moved something in me.
